Overview

The 5 days Tiger’s Nest Hiking Tour invites you to experience one of Bhutan’s most iconic and spiritually resonant journeys. Over five gentle days, you will follow a winding forest path to the breathtaking Paro Taktsang, the Tiger’s Nest monastery, perched dramatically on a cliff face. Along the way, your licensed local guide will share the legends and living traditions that make this site a pilgrimage for both Bhutanese and visitors alike.

Beyond the famous hike, your itinerary includes unhurried visits to ancient dzongs and monasteries, where the rhythm of daily prayer and the scent of juniper incense create an atmosphere of deep calm. This tour is designed for those who seek a meaningful connection with Bhutan’s serene landscape and culture, without the demands of a strenuous trek.

For those wishing to extend their immersion, the nearby town of Paro offers the National Museum, housed in a historic watchtower, and the charming Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples. A short drive leads to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, a monument to Bhutanese resilience, while the fertile Paro Valley invites quiet walks through rice fields and apple orchards. Each place deepens the story of this remarkable kingdom.

Day-by-day itinerary

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your licensed Bhutanese guide, who will accompany you throughout the journey. After a brief orientation and transfer to your hotel, the day unfolds with a gentle introduction to the valley’s treasures. Your first stop is the National Museum, housed in the historic Ta Dzong watchtower, where ancient thangkas, weapons, and artifacts reveal Bhutan’s layered history. From the museum terrace, the sweeping view of the Paro Valley and Rinpung Dzong below sets the tone for the days ahead. A short walk leads to Rinpung Dzong itself, a magnificent fortress-monastery that serves as both a monastic center and administrative hub. Your guide will explain the intricate woodwork, vibrant murals, and the dzong’s role in Bhutanese life, from festivals to governance. The afternoon is free for a leisurely stroll through Paro’s quiet streets, past traditional houses and prayer flags, or simply to rest and acclimate to the mountain air. Overnight in Paro.
