To secure your visa, we require a clear scan of your passport, which must be valid for at least six months from your intended arrival date. Alongside this, your full travel itinerary and the payment of the Sustainable Development Fee are submitted to the Department of Immigration in Thimphu. This fee is a cornerstone of Bhutan’s high-value, low-impact tourism policy, directly funding healthcare, education, and the preservation of the monasteries, dzongs, and pristine landscapes you will visit.

Visa approval typically takes a few working days once your complete application is submitted. We recommend confirming your travel dates well in advance, especially if you plan to join one of our festival tours, as permits are processed sequentially and slots can fill quickly during peak seasons such as the Paro Tshechu or Thimphu Drubchen.

Upon approval, your e-visa is issued and sent to you electronically. Please note that this visa is tied to your specific tour dates and itinerary, so it cannot be used for independent travel. For a smooth arrival, keep your passport and a printed or digital copy of your visa approval letter readily accessible. Should your plans change, please inform us as early as possible.
